Emergency Instance / Safe & Sick Leave / Paid Family Leave
This proposal seeks to codify part-time faculty members’ right to up to 56 hours of paid sick and safe leave. Also significant, the bargaining committee proposes that the university provide part-time faculty with the same paid family leave benefits that it provides to part-time and full-time non-teaching staff. Details below:
Ensure that the university complies with NY State’s Sick and Safe Leave law, which provides for up to 56 hours of paid sick and safe leave.
Require the university to opt part-time faculty into New York State’s paid family leave law, which provides for 12 weeks of paid leave at 67% pay.
