With this proposal, the bargaining committee seeks to expand access to the semester-long paid leave program currently available to part-time faculty. Committee members propose:

1. Requiring the university to notify all faculty who are eligible for this benefit that they are in fact eligible for this benefit.

2. Requiring the university to issue clear directions on how to apply for this benefit.

3. Expand the number of faculty who can receive paid academic leave each year from 50 to 180.

4. Allow faculty to take such leave every 4 years. (Currently, faculty can only take paid leave every 6 years.)
